Oakland Community College is a walking distance south of Oakland University. It is one of the largest community colleges in Michigan and in the US.   

Wayne State University is 18 miles south. It's a public school that offers 187 program options. Students have the option to get bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorates. Areas of study available at Wayne State include biology, journalism, international business, teacher education, engineering technology, medicine, linguistics, pharmacy, law, psychology and art, among many more.
