The Royal Woods community is located in Troy, Michigan, north of E Square Lake Rd and west of Dequindre Rd.

La Botana and Subway are both less than a mile west. 1.5 miles south are Taco Bell, Arby’s, McDonald’s, Kmart, Walgreens, and Kroger. Near the subdivision is a grocery, Taste of Manila. Beaumont Hospital is less than a mile north. This 458-bed hospital offers in-patient and outpatient services as well as private practices. It has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence.

Donald J. Flynn Park is 1.5 miles north. It offers 4 league-play-only ball diamonds. It also has concessions, a playground, and restrooms. Parking space can accommodate up to 285 vehicles. Sanctuary Lake Golf Course is adjacent to the park. Sanctuary Lake Golf Course features an 18-hole, 6,554 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. Sylvan Glen Lake Park is 3.5 miles southwest. It is the largest of Troy's nine neighborhood parks. It covers a 16-acre lake for shore fishing. Sylvan Glen Disc Golf Course features an 18-hole, 6,566 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 71.3 and it has a slope rating of 115. It opened in 1922.  

Another mall located 6.5 miles south is Oakland Mall Shopping Center. It has about 120 stores that are anchored by Macy's, JCPenney, and Sears. Restaurants and dining at the food court are Charley's Grilled Subs, Cinnabon, Golden Chicken, Panda Express, Qdoba, Sicillia Pizza, Starbucks, Subway and Taco Bell. Some of the shopping stores are Aeropostale, Forever 21, H&M, Victoria's Secret & PINK, Upscale Couture, Chic, Dick's Sporting Goods and a lot more.   

Somerset Collection is 8.5 miles southwest. It is a luxury mall with more than 180 stores and is co-owned by The Forbes Company. Some of the top luxury retailers present in this mall are Cartiers, L.K. Bennett, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Girogio Armani, Herve Leger, Anne Fontaine, Hugo Boss, MaxMara, Omega, St. John and Coach. Some of the restaurants here are P.F. Chang's China Bistro, J. Alexander's, Brio Tuscan Grille, McCormick & Schmick's, and California Pizza Kitchen. The third level of the mall features The Peacock Cafes, it's a group of 10 eateries that could serve up to 650 customers.
