The Dirty Shake — Midtown Detroit’s Newest Funky Favorite

Open: Mon-Thur (11:30am-12am)
2nd Ave, Detroit, MI 48201
Phone: (313) 279-8500
Website: The Dirty Shake

In the heart of Midtown Detroit’s Cass Corridor, a playful new hangout has shaken up the scene—The Dirty Shake. Opened by Sandy Levine and Doug Hewitt, the creative minds behind acclaimed spots like Chartreuse and Freya, this new bar brings together nostalgic flavor, laid-back vibes, and serious culinary chops. Set on the corner of Second and Forest, the brick-lined spot features a spacious wraparound patio perfect for summer people-watching—think Bronx Bar energy with a fresh twist.

Inside, it’s part dive, part chef-driven experiment. The drink list leans college-cool with a twist: Hummer milkshakes, a cheeky “Strong Island” iced tea, and $4 PBRs—but don’t let the casual vibe fool you. The food’s the real deal, too. The feta burger (a crispy chickpea and feta patty layered with hummus, olives, and pickled onions) is a vegetarian sleeper hit, and the menu swings from wings to vegan fare to straight-up snack nostalgia like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Reese’s Popcorn. Whether you're grabbing dinner or just vibing with friends, The Dirty Shake is already carving out its place as a go-to new bar in Metro Detroit.

The national restaurant chain Bar Louie has closed its locations at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills and Laurel Park Place in Livonia. Fortunately, the downtown Royal Oak and Mall at Partridge Creek locations remain open, continuing to serve the brand’s signature drinks and bar bites.

Bobcat Bonnie's Corktown — Detroit

After nearly a decade in the heart of Corktown, Bobcat Bonnie's has closed its original Michigan Avenue location. Street Beet plans to open soon, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with coffee from Washed Up Coffee.

Loaded Dice Brewery — Troy
