Arbor Hills is a subdivision within the vibrant community of Ann Arbor, which is the county seat of Washtenaw County and is situated on the Huron River. The subdivision is located just 1.2 miles north of M-14 and US-23 and 35 miles west of Detroit. Windemere Park, Smokler Boglos and the Chapel Hill Condominiums are next to Arbor Hills. The Ann Arbor Municipal Airport is 10 miles south and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport is 26 miles south.

One of the biggest advantages of buying a home in Arbor Hills is that there are so many exceptional amenities close by including parks, shopping centers, restaurants and recreational venues.

Just a short walk west of Arbor Hills is the Oakwoods Nature Area, which consists of a 22-acre woodland with a pond and wetland. The park doesn't offer official trails, however, it is good for nature sightseeing and bird watching. Less than a mile south is another park, Sugarbrush. This park has over 27 acres and features walking trails, tennis courts, basketball court, softball, play areas, picnic areas, and sledding hill.

Plymouth Mall is 1.5 miles southwest. It is a strip shopping center with over 25 tenants including Evergreen Chinese restaurant, Songbird Cafe, Om Market Indian Grocery, Way 1 Supermarket and Arbor Hills Animal Clinic. Across the mall is Kroger. Sprawled around the mall are a McDonald's, Domino's Pizza, The Big Salad and FedEx.

The U.S. Post Office is within walking distance south of the subdivision. Further south are Applebee's, CVS, Carson's American Bistro, Olga's Kitchen, and another grocery, Busch's Fresh Food Market.

4 miles southwest is Leslie Park Golf Course. It is rated 4.5/5 by Golf Digest and received a top honor of Best Municipal Course in Michigan. It was also voted Best Public Golf Course in Washtenaw County for the 5th time in 2015.

Michigan Stadium is located 5.5 miles southwest. It is a massive stadium built in 1927. It is the 2nd largest stadium in the world. It can accommodate more than 100,000 seats. The stadium is also known as “The Big House”.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum is 4 miles southeast.  It offers sprawling botanical gardens, natural areas and habitats. It also has a visitor center, gift shop and conservatory. Nichols Arboretum has many outstanding trees and trails.

University Hospital is 4.5 miles southwest. It is an 11-story, 550-bed hospital serving adults. The hospital has diagnostic equipment, clinical laboratories, operating rooms and inpatient and intensive care units.

It is the largest automotive employer in the city. Eastern Michigan University is also included in the top employers with over 2000 employees. Technology Drive is 12 miles south of Arbor Hills. Several manufacturing companies are located here like Amcor, Thomson Reuters, Audatex, Tetra Tech and HDR Cummins & Bernard.

Students of Arbor Hills attend Ann Arbor Public Schools. The district operates 3 preschools, 20 elementary schools, 1 K-8 open school, 5 middle schools, 3 comprehensive high schools, 3 alternative high schools and 1 adult education program.

The closest elementary school is Thurston Elementary School, which is 1.5 miles south of the neighborhood. The school serves kindergarten through fifth grade students. It is located at 2300 Prairie Road near Huron Parkway and Plymouth Rd intersection. The school has consisten earned an “A” on the Michigan Department of Education Report Card since 2004 and has consistently met Annual Yearly Progress (AYP).

Clague Middle School is 1.3 miles south. It was built in 1972 and was named after Mr. Ashley Clague, a civic leader. There are over 700 students with more than 25 languages spoken in the school.

Huron High School is 4 miles south. It is located at 2727 Fuller Road in eastern Ann Arbor near the banks of Huron River. It was named as one of America's Best High Schools in 2012 by Newsweek. In 2009 and 2010, it was also awarded Best Overall Academic Performance in Michigan by BusinessWeek.

Father Gabriel Richard High School is 2.5 miles southeast. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing, and was established in 1868 by Father Patrick O’Kelly. In 2008, Father Gabriel Richard High School was put on the Top 50 List of best Catholic high schools in the nation. As of October 2015, it has been placed on this list for seven consecutive years.

Green House Montessori School is 1.5 miles south. It is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Michigan Montessori Society (MMS).

Greenhills School is 3 miles southeast. It is a college preparatory school (grades 6 to12) located at 850 Greenhills Dr. There are approximately 570 students enrolled in 2015.
