Located 1.5 miles north is the Newburgh Lake. This 105-acre reservoir has been returned to the recreational resource it once was. During much of 1996 - 1998, Newburgh Lake underwent a major restoration process. Contaminated sediment and fish were removed from the lake, the lake was restocked with game fish, the lake depth was increased and habitat was created for the lake's fish and wildlife. Now all citizens can safely enjoy a variety of recreational uses in and around Newburgh Lake, including fishing, boat rental, picnic shelter and grills, picnic tables, playground, swimming and walking trails. 

Westland Center, located 3.4 miles via Joy Road is one of the shopping centers close to Churchill Manor. Westland Center is an enclosed shopping mall that features more than 100 inline stores, with JC Penney, Sears, Macy's and Kohl's serving as anchor stores. The mall originally boasted a four-story Hudson's department store and S.S.Kresge, a five and dime store. Other stores inside the Westland Center are Aeropostale, Hot Topic, Forever 21, Christopher & Banks, Elegant Steps, Journeys, Foot Locker, Shoe Carnival, American Eagle Outfitters, Things Remembered, Spencer Gifts, GloWorks Imports, Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works.
