1 mile south of the subdivision is Laurel Park Place. Located here are Carson’s, Von Maur, Phoenix Theatres and Marriott. Across Laure softball fields, 4 sand volleyball courts, 2 half-court basketball courts, 1 bocce ball court, and 1 shuffle board court. Farmington Hills Ice Arena is beside Founders Sports Park. It's a 70,000 sq ft arena with 2 ice surfaces and can accommodate up to 1200 people. The arena offers concession facilities, locker rooms, lockers, meeting and party rooms as well as, administrative offices. The facility provides both recreational and competitive skating opportunities. It is home to the Farmington Hills Hockey Association. Across Laurel Park Place is Newburgh Plaza. Stores here are Busch's Fresh Food Market, Panera Bread and Thai Basil.

1 mile east is Glenda's Market. It's a 25000 sq ft garden center with a greenhouse and nursery. The market contains hundreds of basic gardening and specialty items.

2 miles south are more stores. These are The UPS Store, CVS and Century Plaza. Restaurants here are Sheesh, Heritage Bakery, Cottage Inn Plaza and SUBWAY.

1 mile east is Fox Green Golf Course. It's the newest golf course in Livonia having opened in 1988. The course is in a great shape and challenging enough. Scenery is nice for the area thanks to the creeks running throughout. Rates range from 17 to 28 for 9 holes and $23 to $45 for 18 holes. Next to the golf course is Bicentennial Park. The park offers 8 well-maintained tennis courts in 2 separate places within the park. Around the courts are several pavilions for resting or picnic. There are also soccer fields at Bicentennial Park. There's a paved walking trail of half a mile in this park.

Founders Sport Park is 2 miles north. It's a 101-acre park with a variety of active recreation facilities including 6 soccer fields, 8 baseball/softball fields, 4 sand volleyball courts, 2 half-court basketball courts, 1 bocce ball court, and 1 shuffle board court. It features a giant pool slide, leisure pool with water sprays, competitive pool, two gymnasiums, two multi-activity courts, fitness hub with training equipment, indoor track, climbing wall, aerobics room, party rooms, giant play structure and gymnastics area. Outside, the “Rec Center” offers four soccer fields, in-line skate rink, skateboard park, walking path, two sand volleyball courts and a water spray ground.

Caliburn Estates is less than a mile east of I-96.

Livonia enjoys a strategic location second-to-none in the region, with easy east-west access via the Jeffries Expressway (I-96) and north-south along the I-275 expressway.

There are some 4,000 businesses in Livonia. Major local employers include Ford Motor Company (5 miles south), United Parcel Services (UPS) (9 miles southeast), Roush Enterprises (12 miles southeast), NYX Inc., Phillips Service Industries, Inc., McLaren Performance Technologies, and St. Mary Mercy Hospital.

Livonia's industrial and manufacturing heart is largely concentrated in a 6-square-mile corridor combining major railroad and highway access to all sections of the metropolitan region.

Caliburn Estates Subdivision School District

Caliburn Estates students attend Livonia School District. The school district serves most of the city of Livonia and the northernmost portions of Westland. It's a closed school district and which means it does not accept students outside of its designated geographical boundaries. Those school boundaries are determined by the Board of Education. Transfers from within the school district must be approved through central office authorities.

Hoover Elementary School is 2.5 miles south. This schools mission is to provide
a joyful and engaging environment, which inspires a love of learning. The school has more than 450 students in 2016.

Riley Upper Elementary School is 5.5 miles southeast. The school is a safe environment in which students will learn. Collaboratively, the Riley staff, parents, and community works to create a positive and productive learning climate for all. Students are encouraged and taught to problem solve and make decisions that benefit themselves and others. Student achievements are assessed continually to monitor progress and drive instruction. Teachers and students are held accountable to high standards, not only academically, but in conduct as well.

Holmes Middle School is 1.5 miles south. It was founded in 1967. It was named after Oliver Wendell Holmes, a famous physician, poet, & writer. This is also a North Central Association school.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School is 3 miles southeast. Adlai E. Stevenson High School was built in 1965 to accommodate the rising population of Livonia during the turbulent 1960s. Since 1977, Stevenson has featured a unique school-within-school program called Global education. The program is the only national and internationally recognized curriculum in Livonia. The program, accredited by the North Central Association, mixes English and Social Studies courses for all four years of High School. The goal of the program is to help students understand what is going on in their world from Livonia to China, and to prepare students for the challenges of living in an age of globalization.

There are also private schools near the subdivision:

St Paul's Lutheran School is 2.5 miles east. It was opened in 1947 by the WELS Christians of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The school has received accreditation for K-8 grade-school through the National Counsel for Private School Accreditation.

St Edith Catholic School is 2.5 miles south. It provides a Catholic Christian environment nurturing children in mind, spirit and body, providing faith-filled worship experiences and high-quality education allowing students to grow and develop as a whole person.

Ladywood High School is across St Edith Catholic School. It's a Catholic college-preparatory school for young women, committed to providing an outstanding educational environment within the Felician-Franciscan tradition and the mission of Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, foundress of the Felician Sisters.

Eastern Michigan University is a comprehensive, co-educational public university that was founded in 1849 as Michigan State Normal School. Located 2 miles south, it offers degrees and programs at the bachelor's, master's, specialist's and doctoral levels. There are more than 200 majors and minors at the undergraduate level, and more than 170 graduate programs. EMU has six Academic Divisions and eight University Sites which include satellite campuses. Just like many other large universities EMU does offer online courses and degrees. Currently, EMU comprises seven colleges and schools: College of Arts and Sciences, College of business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Services, College of Technology, an Honors College, and a Graduate School. The university's site is composed of an academic and athletic campus spread across 800 acres with over 120 buildings. EMU has a total enrollment of more than 23,000 students. The school is a culturally diverse learning and teaching community set in a small city environment, amid a major metropolitan area. Students, attracted by the school's atmosphere and location, come not only from the Metro Detroit area but from the entire state of Michigan; EMU is well known both nationally and internationally.

Madonna University is located 3.5 miles south. Founded by the Felician Sisters in 1937, Madonna University is an independent, Catholic liberal arts university located in suburban Livonia. Madonna University offers a comprehensive liberal arts education integrated with career preparation. This means that graduates acquire the critical skills and abilities that employers say they want in new employees: communication skills, problem solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in collaborative groups. A Madonna University education is also an education for the whole person, focusing on the intellectual, spiritual, and personal development to prepare students to live as successful and productive citizens of American society. The University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), competing in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf and soccer; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball and volleyball.

Walsh College - Novi Campus is 5.5 miles northwest. It serves the residents and students of western Oakland and Wayne counties. The Novi Campus is a technology-enriched facility that operates as a full service campus with 35,000 square foot of classrooms, open computer labs, a library, bookstore, student lounge and meeting space. Founded in 1922 and celebrating more than 90 years of business education, Walsh College offers 19 business and related technology degree programs at the bachelor's and master's levels that are responsive to student, employer, and community needs. Walsh is a private, not-for-profit institution offering courses and services at locations in Troy, Novi, Clinton Township, Port Huron, and online.

Art Institute of Michigan is 10 miles northwest. This school is a branch of Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. The school provides education in media arts, design, fashion and culinary arts. It is accredited by the higher commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school has approximately 596 under graduates and the acceptance rate is 59%.

South University in Novi is 9 miles northwest. Established in 1899, South University is a private academic institution dedicated to providing educational opportunities for the intellectual, social, and professional development of a diverse student population. The Novi, Michigan campus offers focused and balanced curricula at the bachelor's degree level in the areas of business administration, criminal justice, healthcare management, and psychology. Other degree programs offered include a Master of Arts in professional counseling and a Master of Business Administration. South University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

Oakland Community College is 9.5 miles northeast. OCC has 5 campuses and Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills is the largest. It's an award-winning Culinary Studies Institute is found in Orchard Ridge Campus. The campus is also known as the fine and performing arts campus, and offers visual and performing arts programs as well as several design programs. Throughout the year, the Wallace F. Smith Theatre offers cultural events, including theatre and dance performances open to the community and students.
