Somerset North Subdivision Location

Homes for sale in Somerset North, Troy, MI are located north of W Big Beaver Rd and east of Coolidge Hwy.

Closest restaurants and shopping are located at Somerset Collection mall. It is a short walk south of Somerset North. The luxury mall has more than 180 stores and it is co-owned by The Forbes Company. Some of the top luxury retailers present in this mall are Cartiers, L.K. Bennett, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Girogio Armani, Herve Leger, Anne Fontaine, Hugo Boss, MaxMara, Omega, St. John and Coach. Some of the restaurants here are P.F. Chang's China Bistro, J. Alexander's, Brio Tuscan Grille, McCormick & Schmick's, and California Pizza Kitchen. The third level of the mall features The Peacock Cafes, it's a group of 10 eateries that could serve up to 650 customers.

A few steps east of the mall, along Big Beaver Rd are more restaurants and shopping choices. Some of these restaurants are Maggiano’s Little Italy, Benihana Troy, Piada Italian Street Food, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Noodles & Company, Potbelly Sandwich Shop and a lot more.  

Another mall located 7.5 miles southeast is Oakland Mall Shopping Center. It has about 120 stores that are anchored by Macy's, JCPenney, and Sears. Restaurants and dining at the food court are Charley's Grilled Subs, Cinnabon, Golden Chicken, Panda Express, Qdoba, Sicillia Pizza, Starbucks, Subway and Taco Bell. Some of the shopping stores are Aeropostale, Forever 21, H&M, Victoria's Secret & PINK, Upscale Couture, Chic, Dick's Sporting Goods, and a lot more.   

Closest grocery is Whole Foods Market which is 1.5 miles south. There are 3 Kroger groceries in Troy, Closest is 2 miles south. Next to Kroger are Target, Kohl’s, Old Navy, Michael’s, and The Home Depot. Another Kroger grocery is 4.2 miles northeast and the other is 5 miles north. Other groceries in Troy are Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace, 7 miles northeast and Spice Mart, 7 miles north.

Closest park is Beach Road Park; it is a walking distance from the subdivision. This 10-acre park has ball diamond, soccer field, and play structure with 4 progressive slides and regular swings. Paved parking is available for up to 37 vehicles. There is no restroom at this site.

Another park 2 mile west is Springdale Park. The park boasts picnic facilities, pavilion, and children’s playground. There is also a 9-hole golf course here. The par for men and women is 34 and the course ranges from 2732 yards from the blue tees to 2196 yards from the red tees. The clubhouse offers power carts, pull carts, concessions and league play. 

Firefighters Park is 3.5 miles northwest. It is a beautiful big park that has football, soccer, and baseball fields. You could also go fishing, volleyball or play fetch with your dog. There's also an 18-hole disc golf course. 

Somerset Park Golf Course is a short walk from the subdivision. It is a private 9-hole golf course that measures 1863 yards from the longest tees. The course features 2 sets of tees for different skill levels. The golf course follows a dress code. Shirts with sleeves must be worn, shorts of reasonable length, no cutoffs/bathing suits. No shirts with bare midriffs/halter-tops.

Stonycroft Hills Club is 4 miles northwest. Stonycroft Hills Club is a 9-hole private golf course that opened in 1952. It measures 2884 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 123 and a 34.5 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels.

Beaumont Hospital within Troy is 8.5 miles northeast. This 458-bed hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services as well as private practices. It has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence.  

Another Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak is closer. It is 4.5 miles south. It is the largest Beaumont hospital with an academic medical center. It houses 1,070 inpatient beds. Services offered are cancer, renal, vascular, heart, radiology and neuroscience centers as well as a research institute and a medical building with private practices and other Beaumont services. This hospital has been recognized for excellence including University Healthcare Consortium’s (UHC) Quality Leadership Award,] U.S. News and World Report 2015 “Best Hospital” rankings in nine medical specialties and Michigan’s first hospital to receive Magnet recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Somerset North Subdivision Freeway Access

Somerset North Subdivision School District

Somerset North students are assigned to Troy School District. Troy School District operates 12 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and 4 high schools.

Schroeder Elementary School is a walk south of the subdivision. It is rated 10/10 by greatschools.org. There are 536 students enrolled and student per teacher ratio is 23:1. Boulan Park Middle School is also less a short walk. The school has 706 students enrolled. The school teaches 5 world languages including Chinese-Mandarin, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Troy High School is 2 miles north. It is attended by approximately 2000 students. Newsweek ranked the school 134th in America’s Best High School in 2013. 

There are also private schools near the subdivision. 

Schoolhouse Montessori is 2.5 miles east. The school has 147 students enrolled and accepts grades PK-3.

Academy of the Sacred Heart is 3 miles northwest. It’s the oldest independent school in Michigan. This Roman Catholic School accepts infancy through grades 12. The Academy is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, which includes 21 schools in the U.S. and an affiliation with the Society of the Sacred Heart in 44 countries around the world.

Brookfield Academy is 3 miles northeast. The school accepts PK-5. Students enrolled are 240 and the school offers before and aftercare.

Bethany Christian School is 5 miles east. The school accepts K-12 and has 230 students enrolled. The school also offers before and aftercare.

Walsh College is 3 miles east. The school offers upper-division undergraduate and graduate degrees in business and technology. It also offers certificate programs and online courses. There are approximately 4400 students enrolled and average tuition fee is $335 per credit hour (undergraduate) and $557 per credit hour (graduate).

Oakland University is 9.5 miles north. This school was established in 1957, and it offers 132 undergraduate and 124 graduate academic programs. It is also a doctoral research university. There are approximately 19000 students enrolled and average tuition fees are $9,280 for freshmen and sophomores; $10,142 for juniors and seniors. Oakland does not charge any fees.

Oakland Community College is 9.5 miles north. It is one of the largest community colleges in Michigan and in the US.   

Wayne State University is 18 miles south. It's a public school that offers 187 program options. Students have the option to get bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorates. Areas of study available at Wayne State include biology, journalism, international business, teacher education, engineering technology, medicine, linguistics, pharmacy, law, psychology and art, among many more.
