Detroit Grand Prix

For the first time in over three decades, this exhilarating event will be staged on the asphalt arteries of Detroit itself, moving from its traditional home on Belle Isle. Set your pulse racing with a dynamic 9-turn, 1.7-mile circuit that weaves through the city along Jefferson Avenue. Witness drivers challenging one another amidst iconic Detroit landmarks such as Hart Plaza, the Renaissance Center, and the Spirit of Detroit. Centerline Independence Festival

Breaking into the summer celebrations even before July 4th, this festival is a beacon for those seeking early fireworks displays. This year, in an exciting partnership with Warren, the event has added a Classic Car Show to its repertoire. Prepare for a jubilant mix of carnivals, live performances by local bands, breweries showcasing their craft, and a smorgasbord of delectable food.

Ann Arbor Water Lantern Festival 

June 2-4

On the same weekend, the Annual Ann Arbor Water Lantern Festival illuminates the night in an unexpected location—Kensington Park in Milford. Kicking off at 6pm, this event offers an array of attractions including food trucks, live music, and games. The highlight, of course, is the launch of lanterns onto the water between 9 and 10 pm, a spectacle that's as beautiful as it is heartwarming. This unique tradition has earned the festival the title of "Best Cultural Festival" from USA Today, two years running.

Medieval Faire 

June 2-4

For those with a taste for history and the dramatic, the Medieval Faire in Canterbury Village in Lake Orion runs from June 2nd-4th and again from the 9th-11th. On the 2nd and 9th, the Royal Feast tempts patrons with a five-course meal priced at $101.25, starting with a Charcuterie Board, leading up to slow-roasted pork, and ending with apple bread pudding for dessert. For the rest of the weekend, a $15 entry fee opens up a world of knights jousting in shining armor, musicians and minstrels performing, jesters and fire breathers providing thrilling entertainment, and of course, traditional food such as turkey legs and ale, served at the Clansman Gaelic Pub.

Ann Arbor Summer Festival 

June 9-25

Mid-June heralds the start of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, a vibrant affair that attracts over 80,000 attendees from the 9th to the 25th. This festival is a diverse mix of both ticketed and free events, offering a wide range of activities. From an outdoor Silent Disco at The Annex on June 9th, to classes teaching you to paint like Bob Ross on the 13th, and movie nights featuring classics like "The Muppets Take Manhattan," the festival has something for everyone. On June 14th, enjoy stargazing with telescopes courtesy of the Detroit Observatory and a movie night featuring "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once." Renee Elise Goldsberry graces the stage on the 15th, and the movie selection of the day is "Wakanda Forever." Trivia nights, performances by Reggie Watts, and screenings of "Inside Out" and the original "Ghostbusters" punctuate the rest of the festival, wrapping up with a showing of "Elvis."

Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival 

June 21-25

Not to be overlooked is the 58th annual Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival in New Baltimore, running from June 21st to 25th. This well-loved event sees over 80,000 people annually and offers a wide array of attractions. The festival boasts a large midway with a full carnival, live entertainment, food trucks, and a grand display of fireworks on the night of the 22nd. Not forgetting the kids, there are contests galore, including a pizza eating contest, mummy wrapping contest, bubble gum blowing contest, and even a hula hoop contest. The festivities conclude with a much-anticipated parade.

Electric Forest 

June 22-25

Mark your calendars for one of Michigan's most sought-after music festivals, Electric Forest, set to electrify the scene from June 22nd to 25th. This exuberant celebration of music, camping, and fun is a multi-genre festival co-produced by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events, laying emphasis on electronic music and jam band genres. Nestled in the verdant setting of Rothbury, Michigan at the Double JJ Resort, Electric Forest is a remarkable festival experience that evolved from the Rothbury Festival of 2008. It earned a nomination for the Festival of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards in 2017, cementing its place in the festival landscape. This year, Electric Forest returns with a massive lineup for the 4-day spectacle. Prepare to be enthralled by the musical talents of big names like Odesza, Zeds Dead, Chromeo, and The String Cheese Incident, amongst a plethora of others. Ok, so this may not actually be a Metro Detroit event, but it would be an injustice not to at least mention it considering its overall greatness.

Howell Balloon Fest 

June 23-25

From June 23rd to 25th, immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and serene spectacle of the 38th Howell Balloon Fest at Howell High School. This festival brims with family-friendly activities - a bustling carnival, diverse food trucks, and exciting live music performances. Yet, the absolute stars of the show are the hot air balloons. Imagine the breathtaking scene of 20 hot air balloons lifting off at 6:30 pm against the backdrop of the setting sun, soaring in the sky until 8 pm. But that's not all - on Friday, June 23rd, as darkness envelops the sky, a dazzling display of fireworks will ignite the night, amplifying the festival's charm.

Ford Fireworks

Finally, no June festivities in Michigan would be complete without the Ford Fireworks, or as locals affectionately call it, the Detroit Fireworks. Set to ignite the night sky on Monday, June 26th, the Ford Fireworks is renowned as Detroit's largest display and one of the finest in the United States. Presented by The Parade Company, this spectacle is the epitome of Detroit's summer festivities. The magnificent fireworks, bursting in a symphony of light over the Detroit River, can be best appreciated from Hart Plaza or along the scenic Detroit Riverwalk.
