The streets of Detroit are buzzing with anticipation as we approach the weekend and one of the city's most vibrant and cherished traditions: the St. Patrick's Parade. This annual event, transforms Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood, into a bustling hub of Irish celebration. With the 2024 parade set for March 10 at 1 PM, both long-time attendees and new faces alike, including those living in Metro Detroit and those moving to Metro Detroit, are eagerly planning their participation in what promises to be a memorable day.
Parade Route & Spectator Information
The Detroit St. Patrick's Parade will kick off at Sixth Street and Michigan Avenue, winding its way down Michigan Avenue before concluding at 14th Street, near the iconic Michigan Central Station. This route is expected to draw between 30,000 to 50,000 people, all gathered to celebrate Irish heritage and the ongoing renaissance of Corktown. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot along the parade route, where they will be treated to over two hours of entertainment, featuring more than 3,000 participants ranging from traditional Irish dancers to local marching bands and even a contingent of Ghostbusters Detroit, complete with their paranormal investigation gear.

Music and Dance
Central to the parade's festivities is the vibrant display of Irish music and dance, with performances by both local and international groups. Attendees can expect to be mesmerized by the intricate footwork of Irish step dancers from the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance, Motor City Irish Dance, and the Shannon Irish Dance Academy. The air will be filled with the stirring sounds of bagpipes and drums, courtesy of the Metro Detroit Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, as well as the Windsor Police Pipe Band, marking a special cross-border participation. High school marching bands, including those from Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology, River Rouge High School, Roosevelt High School, and Wayne Memorial High School, will add to the parade's musical diversity, ensuring a lively and engaging experience for all.
Family Fun Zone
For families seeking a more curated experience, the Family Fun Zone offers an oasis of entertainment and comfort. Located strategically for optimal parade viewing, this exclusive area provides grandstand seating, face painting, and refreshments, making it the perfect spot for families to enjoy the parade in style. Special appearances by Detroit's beloved mascots, Paws and Roary, from 12:30 to 12:50 PM, will delight children and adults alike. With tickets priced at $12 per person or $60 for a family of six, including one parking spot in a designated lot, the Family Fun Zone represents a fantastic value for those looking to enhance their parade day experience. However, with entry limited to 275 attendees, early booking is advised to secure your spot in this sought-after section.
