School districts play a very important role in overseeing and making sure that the public schools are serving their purpose. Without proper school districts, the public school system cannot compete with private schools. The property is mandated by the Whitmore Lake School District. 

Whitmore Lake Public Schools was established in the year 1944. The schools were located just outside downtown Whitmore Lake. Originally, the High School, Middle School, and Elementary School were built on the same land. Due to a few different aspects, one of which being the growth in the population of students, the district had to rebuild the Elementary School and later, the High School. Whitmore Lake Public Schools is currently a School of Choice, meaning that to attend school at Whitmore Lake, it is not necessary to live within the boundaries of Whitmore Lake Public School District.

Whitmore Lake Elementary School was built in 1944, later (1991) moved from 8847 Main Street to 1077 Barker Road. The Elementary School contains kindergarten through fourth grade. There are aproximately 451 students enrolled at Whitmore Lake Elementary School. The school is located 0.8 mile via Wildwood Lake Drive and Barker Road.

Whitmore Lake Middle School is located at 8877 Main Street, 1.6 miles via Barker Road and N Main Street. The middle school contains fifth grade through eighth grade, with a total enrollees of 375.

The Whitmore Lake High School is located at 7430 Whitmore Lake Road, 3.2 miles via US-23 S. The tenth grade has a total of 119 students, eleventh grade enrolls 84 students and the twelfth grade includes 90 students, summing up the total students of Whitmore High at 293 students.
