Schools

This property is mandated by the West Bloomfield School District, located in the affluent town of West Bloomfield, MIchigan. It was formed in 1949 and covers approximately sixteen square miles. In May 2011, superintendent Dr. JoAnn Andrees succeeded Dr. Gary Faber in 2008. In July 2012, Dr. Gerald D. Hill succeeded Dr. Andrees as the Superintendent of West Bloomfield School District. The West Bloomfield School District has been recognized as one of the top public school districts in the country in 2010.

The approximately 15.875-square-mile (41.12 km2) district includes a portion of West Bloomfield, all of Keego Harbor, about 99% of Orchard Lake Village and about 10% of Sylvan Lake. As of 2013 the district has 6,633 students, with 5,703 living within the district and 1,326 from outside the district as part of its "Schools of Choice" program. A 2008 survey indicated that major non-English languages spoken in families of students included Albanian, Arabic, Aramaic, Chinese, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Urdu. 

West Bloomfield Schools are a voluntary member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). West Bloomfield High School is a member of the Oakland Activities Association which comprises 24 Oakland County Schools. It is divided into three or four divisions in order to develop equitable competition. Realignment takes place annually to ensure that the goals and criteria are met. West Bloomfield Middle Schools, Abbott and OLMS, are members of the Farmington-West Bloomfield League. Swimming and Track are affiliated with schools outside of the FWB to create equitable competition.

The beautiful and welcoming upscale La Playa subdivision is located where Old Orchard Trail and Hiller Road meet. A wide variety of homes can be found within offering 4-7 bedrooms and 2-5 bathrooms. There are 4 homes with large lake frontage on Upper Straits Lake. Also featured is a 2-4 car attached garage and full size walkout basements. 2.8 miles via Old Orchard Trail is where a number of restaurants can be found, like, Oliver's Pizza and Subs, Puff Hookah Lounge, Romano's Pizza and Catering, Sushi Samurai, Village Palace, Mezza Mediterranean Grille, Subway, China Town, Loya Organic Middle Eastern Grill, Bangkok Cuisine, and Uptown Parthenon.

Orchard Lake Road, 3.0 miles from Laplaya Subdivision, is a major retail corridor with shopping centers namely, Crosswinds Mall, Orchard Mall, Shops at Old Orchard, Simbury Plaza Shopping Center, and Orchard 14 Shopping Center.

One of the busiest attraction in West Bloomfield is a 15-minute drive via Green Lake Road, known as The Adventure Park at West Bloomfield. This is a forest recreation center with zip-line trails, climbing platforms & elevated bridges for all levels. Another attraction sits just 1.1 miles via Laplaya Lane and Hiller Road, The Marshbank Park which was deeded to the Township in 1987 from the Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority.  The park saw extensive renovations in 2010 with funding from a MDNR Trust Fund grant and Township capital improvement bonds.  It is home to many special events throughout the year including the summer concert series, family camp out night, trick or treat trail and children's concerts. Site work included a new entrance, roadways, sidewalks, a paved walking path, two new playground areas with rubber surfacing, landscape plantings and irrigation.  Also included was a new field area for baseball, soccer and special events.  A new hill was contoured for winter sledding and summer concert seating.  An elevated boardwalk along Cass Lake was added with a floating fishing pier and a canoe/kayak launch platform.  The entire park is designed to be universally accessible and barrier free.
