Located 0.8 miles via S Commerce Road is Penny Lake Market, a family–owned business, whose main goal is to serve the customers in a personalized, old–world tradition.

Walmart Supercenter is located 2.9 miles via Decker Road and N Pontiac Trail. These stock everything a Walmart discount store does, but also include a full-service supermarket, including meat and poultry, baked goods, delicatessen, frozen foods, dairy products, garden produce, and fresh seafood. Many Walmart Supercenters also have a garden center, pet shop, pharmacy, Tire and Lube Express, optical center, one-hour photo processing lab, portrait studio, and numerous alcove shops, such as cellular phone stores, hair and nail salons, video rental stores, local bank branches (newer locations have Woodforest National Bank branches), and fast food outlets, usually Subway but sometimes Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, Wendy's, Checker's, Burger King or Blimpie.

Beyond the basic purpose of restaurants to provide food and drink, restaurants have, historically, fulfilled a human need for connection and shaped social relations. Located on a short walking distance of 0.8 mile via S Commerce Road are a couple of nearby restaurants and fast food chains such as CAYA Smokehouse Grill, Boon Kai Restaurant, Pizza Hut, L. Hickory Glen park is a 155 acre park located on Glengary and South Commerce Roads. A non-motorized pathway connecting many of our parks and adjacent communities runs through the park. Benches dot the landscape and provide respite for those on the non-motorized pathway. Off of the non-motorized pathway through Hickory Glen park the members of The Michigan Mountain Bike Association, have built and maintain mountain bike trails with the approval of the Parks and Recreation Committee. Regular and special event rides are held by the club on trails designed for beginner to advance skill levels so all ages and abilities can enjoy riding together. Trail signs indicating direction and skill levels have been erected to assist riders along the trails.

Maple Glen Park is located on Glengary Road west of Benstein Road and south of the Proud Lake State Park Campgrounds. This park is the home of two (2) ball leagues, the Interlakes Girls Softball League and the Commerce Little League. The leagues have built and maintained the baseball diamonds through generous donations and the volunteerism of its players’ families. The leagues were instrumental in obtaining the mileage to purchase this park in the 1960’s. The leagues work together as well as with other organizations in the community to schedule, maintain and utilize these fields.

Malls offer free year round entertainment for all ages, including musical/choral groups, dancers and a wide range of other events designed to engage and entertain. No other retail venue can provide the level of entertainment a mall can. 

West Oaks II is located at the intersection of Novi Road and I-96. The center sits directly across Novi Road from the areas super regional shopping center, Twelve Oaks Mall, creating one of the busiest retail hubs in southeastern Michigan. The center has several popular retail tenants, including Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, Marshalls, Kohls, and Five Below.

Orchard Mall is an intimate high-end shopping destination located 7.5 miles via W Maple Road. The Adventure Park at West Bloomfield is the second "aerial forest park" in Michigan and is currently the largest. The five beautiful forest acres feature platforms in the trees connected by challenge bridges and zip lines waiting for one to climb and explore. 10 different color-coded courses to choose from ranging from beginner through advanced. No climbing experience necessary! All climbers are continuously clipped on to a safety cable throughout their time in the trees. Upon arrival all climbers receive a full instructional session from our friendly staff on how to use their safety harness and equipment as well as correct climbing procedures. A great outdoor family experience! Courses suitable for ages five and older. The courses or "aerial trails" are designed for self-exploration and our staff are stationed throughout the Park to advise or assist if needed. With the exception of 5- and 6-year olds, parents or guardians need not climb with kids 7 and older but must be on premises to supervise. (Climbing requirements vary by age.)

West Oakland Railroad Museum is a museum of railroad history and artifacts affiliated with the Chi-Town Union Station, world's largest O-scale model railroad layout 10,000 square feet five to seven layers deep, and home of the world record longest model train, 1,112.06 feet (1205 freight cars and 26 locomotives). Focuses on American railroading in the 1950's and 60's with an emphasis on passenger travel through Chicago.
