Lake Shore Public Schools – Building Successful Futures, One Student at a Time
Lake Shore Public Schools in Saint Clair Shores is home to over 3,400 students attending three elementary schools, one middle, and one high school. Large enough to offer the latest in technology, curriculum, sports, and enrichments, but small enough to give students personal attention for their learning needs. The average class size for K-5 was 24 students. Middle and high school average class sizes are also in the twenties. Lake Shore lives by the motto, “We build successful futures for all – one student at a time.”
Lake Shore schools offer an academically challenging, enriching and safe environment for students. At the elementary level, students have daily enrichment opportunities and are provided support through intervention, Title One, and special education. Students also enjoy a full calendar of extracurricular activities and field trips at every grade level. Lake Shore also offers foreign language starting in Kindergarten. For the 2014-15 school year, Lake Shore will be utilizing Rosetta Stone and offering Mandarin, German, Spanish, and possibly Italian to our students. Using the technology of Rosetta Stone will open the door for students to learn languages both at school and have the support to continue to learn at home.
The middle and high schools are home to award winning athletics and fine and performing art programs. Kennedy Middle School has the only middle school band program in the state to receive First Division ratings for both jazz and concert bands. The middle school also has a very active student council, National Junior Honor Society, and Friends of Rachel (F.O.R.) Club for students interested in promoting a chain reaction of kindness in the school and community.
Students at Lake Shore High School can receive training in CAD, medical and dental careers, computer science, web design, and video productions. High school students can choose to participate in an award winning building trades class.  Superintendent Christopher Loria received the 2013 Meridian Award of Excellence at the annual Michigan School Business Officials meeting for the “Extreme Home Makeover Class” at the high school.
Lake Shore offers dual enrollment opportunities for students to earn both high school and college credit free of charge. Students can also participate in Early College or take advance placement courses. New courses for the 2014-15 school year include AP Language and Composition, AP US History, AP Psychology, and AP Studio Art Portfolio.   Lake Shore High School was awarded the Bronze Medal from US News and World Report based on the school performance on reading and math assessments.
